Clothes don't change the world. |
Clothes are so personal to you so I'm unlikely to cover your situation completely. The main focus on this page is reducing spend on new stuff as usually we have too many clothes. Make sure you do a seasonal review first - collect your clothes together for an upcoming season and sort them out as to what can be reused, repaired or updated (if you still love them and they're in good shape) before you buy anything. Sell, swap or give the rest away if they're worth it.
Sure, if you're a dab hand with a needle or sewing machine, repurpose pieces into a patchwork quilt or something similar but know your limit - throw if you're keeping only out of guilt. |
Decluttering your wardrobe |
I've already mentioned Marie Kondo, queen of tidying, on another page. However, her followers are funny to watch as they attack their wardrobes and homes in an attempt to declutter. The best way to enjoy these videos is while you are collecting all your stuff together and sorting them into categories. It should inspire those of you who are hoarders to actually part with some things. Watch this video (17.10 minutes) to see one example. Google "Marie Kondo + decluttering" to find more videos. |
