Recycling Aluminum
|
Clean aluminum cans for Wellington houses usually go into a paper and metal recycling bag. Householders receive bags from the city council each year but can also buy additional bags from some libraries. You'll also see metal and plastic recycling bins around the city.
As apartments look after their own recycling, put clean aluminum cans (with tabs inside) into the right recycling bin. But if your apartment block doesn't have one, then you need to put it into the general rubbish. Note that clean aluminum foil/trays can only be recycled at the Southern Landfill. Ask your Body Corporate or Property Manager if they could add a recycling facility if you notice a high level of recyclable materials going into the general rubbish. Aluminum can be recycled easily and is said to save up to 95% of the energy required to make new aluminum. Watch this video (6minutes) to find out how aluminum cans are made, filled and recycled. |
